#223 - Chapter 33: Night of Chaos (Part 2)
A large group of mercenaries poured out of the side hall, raising their weapons and charging towards the Thirteen's guards. Daenerys was firmly protected by her three blood riders, and Jorah stood in front of her, sword in hand, looking tense.
The warlock's clones surrounded them, each with different attire but the same face. They spoke in unison, which was quite eerie: "Khaleesi, don't resist. Have your people lay down their weapons. Come with me to the House of the Undying; your children are waiting for you."
The guard who threw the axe earlier was Beirut, the squad leader of Liu Yuan's guard. He pulled out an oval metal shield from behind: "You suspicious fellows think you have the numbers, huh? My brothers aren't few either."
"Boom!" The tightly locked gate shattered! Two mercenaries, covered in blood, were thrown in, followed closely by fully armed, heavily armored guards. They charged into the hall with blood-stained weapons, hacking and slashing at the mercenaries. One of them backhanded a mercenary's face with his shield, smashing it in, and shouted, "Damn you, Beirut! Why didn't you signal earlier? If some idiot hadn't come looking for trouble, I wouldn't have known there was a fight upstairs!"
Beirut: "Shut up, Michel! These mercenaries are that black, fat guy's underlings. Our mission is to protect the Mother of Dragons. Watch out for that magician; he seems unkillable."
Pyat Pree: "Why won't you mortals accept the arrangement of fate!" The warlock's clone stood between them, declaring shamelessly.
"Tss!" A blade pierced through his temple, and the warlock dissipated like mist, leaving only a pile of clothes. Michel said in surprise, "Huh? He really is unkillable; there's no blood."
Another warlock clone appeared: "Mother of Dragons, you don't understand. Since your dragons appeared, our magic has returned. Mortals can't kill... Ah! What's happening? No!" Pyat Pree burst into flames. Not only him, but all the dozen or so clones present also ignited in roaring flames, soon burning into piles of ashes.
They died so easily? Everyone looked at each other in dismay. They were just spouting harsh words so arrogantly, and in the blink of an eye, they turned to ash.
Michel: "What's going on? Why did they spontaneously combust? What should we do next?
Beirut: "You're asking me? Who should I ask? Let's go back to the garrison."
Michel pointed to the mercenaries and Thirteen's guards still fighting fiercely: "What about them?" The members of Liu Yuan's guard were all powerful, each comparable to a mid-level knight, and their equipment was top-notch, with Valyrian steel weapons as standard. Dealing with these mercenaries was like chopping melons and vegetables. Soon, the 40-plus mercenaries surrounding them were cut down. Fortunately, they had no interest in intervening in the melee on the other side. They put away their weapons and watched the show. The mercenaries weren't idiots and naturally didn't dare to provoke them again. Their mission was only to kill the Thirteen.
Beirut: "The lord's mission for us is to protect the Mother of Dragons, not to save the Thirteen. Khaleesi, do you want to save these people?" He turned to ask Daenerys.
Before Daenerys could speak, the Thirteen, who had been forced into a corner, began to shout, "Mother of Dragons, please save us!"
"Please have mercy; I don't want to die here."
The Copper Thirteen: "How can you stand by and watch? If you help us out of this, I will consider funding you. Ah! ~ Which bastard pushed me ~" Before he could finish speaking, he was pushed out, waving his arms as he fell into the crowd. Before he could get up, he was surrounded by several mercenaries. "Puchi ~ Puchi ~" They stabbed him wildly, blood spraying high, a miserable death.
The fat Hektor wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, narrowly escaping being killed by this bastard. What time is it, and he still dares to speak to Daenerys in that tone? He glanced at the Thirteen who had pushed the man together with him earlier and smiled knowingly. Then they shouted together, "Mother of Dragons, Your Majesty, we are willing to submit. As long as you can save our lives, I swear I will fully support your cause of restoration. Money for money, ships for ships!"
Daenerys was so angry at the idiot's words that she almost went over and killed him herself. But the promises of the other Thirteen moved her, and she stopped her original intention to leave. She seemed to be weighing something in her heart and said to the guards, "Please take action and save these people's lives. They are useful to me."
Beirut and Michel exchanged glances and revealed a cruel smile. "As you command, Khaleesi! Brothers, follow me! Kill them all, but remember not to chop the wrong people."
The guard team consisted of twelve men per squad, and Liu Yuan directly sent two squads of twenty-four men to protect Daenerys. The guard team charged into the mercenaries' ranks with a violent posture, completely crushing them in terms of physical quality and weapons. The last mercenary was cut in two from behind by Michel, and the battle ended. The guards carefully wiped the blood from their weapons.
There were six Thirteen still alive. Despite the desperate protection of their guards, half of them had still died. They walked past the guards covered in blood and came to Daenerys. Hektor was a smooth talker and knelt in front of her with a thud. "Thank you for your Majesty's mercy. I was blind before. From now on, I will be your most loyal supporter. I am willing to donate half of my family property to recruit troops for you. You can freely use the 84 merchant ships under my name." The other five looked at him in surprise, not understanding. Why would Hektor, who had always been the most shrewd, make such a decision?
In fact, Hektor knew very well that Xaro dared to start a fire here. What he was plotting was not just a little bit of power, but the property of all of them. Maybe he had already taken people to raid his home. It was likely that the remaining people combined were not enough to fight Xaro.
The worst outcome was that Xaro won, and he would run away with nothing. If he placed his bet on Daenerys, then if she won, he could still get half of his property back. Moreover, the assets of the six dead Thirteen and Xaro might also be handed over to them to deal with. Back and forth, the benefits he would get would be the most.
Hektor gave the other Thirteen frantic winks, and the other five also believed his judgment and knelt down to pledge allegiance to Daenerys. With the support of six Thirteen, Daenerys became the richest person in Qarth overnight, with more than five hundred merchant ships.
Michel came to Beirut and nudged him with his elbow: "What are you spacing out about?"
Beirut poked the pile of dust with his foot: "I was wondering, how did this warlock die?"
