Interstellar Beast World: All My Husbands Are Powerful and Rich!

Chapter 342: Timing

Chapter 342: Timing

"Vincent, I heard there’s going to be a huge bonfire festival here tonight. Let’s go together."

Rory sent messages to a few new friends she had recently met while speaking to Vincent, who was busy packing things nearby.

She and Vincent had already stayed on Planet Z1689 for five days.

During the day, she dragged Vincent around exploring and having fun. At night, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to eliminating the black flames hidden within the feather mark between his brows.

Thanks to Rory’s relentless efforts over the past few days, most of the black fire inside the feather mark had already disappeared.

The Vincent of today no longer carried that dark, violent aura he had at the beginning. The crimson madness and dangerous obsession lingering in his eyes had completely faded away as well.

Now, he appeared restrained and gentle. Whenever he looked at Rory, his gaze was warm and clear, softer even than before his rebirth.

At the same time, he also seemed far more unfathomable than before, calm and unreadable in a way that made him feel impossibly deep.

Rory looked at the man quietly packing things without responding to her. She walked over and waved a hand in front of his face.

"Vincent? Did you hear what I just said?"

"Hm?"

Vincent snapped back to himself instantly and looked up at her, his voice gentle.

"Rory, what did you say just now? Sorry. I was thinking about something else and got distracted."

Rory narrowed her eyes and pinched his cheek lightly.

"What could possibly be so important that you didn’t even hear me talking?"

"It’s... nothing..."

Vincent shook his head quickly while hurriedly storing the packed items into his storage ring.

Then he smoothly changed the subject.

"What did you say just now, Rory? Can you repeat it?"

Rory repeated herself patiently.

"I said there’s a bonfire festival tonight. Let’s go have fun together."

"Alright."

Vincent smiled and nodded.

"Then I’ll prepare some food you like so we can eat there tonight."

The food served at these local bonfire festivals definitely would not suit Rory’s taste.

He would have to prepare things himself.

"I’ll help you."

Rory walked over and held his hand.

"Vincent, are you really okay? You’ve seemed distracted a lot these past two days."

Especially since yesterday, she had noticed him zoning out more and more often.

"Rory, I’m really fine."

Vincent smiled softly and pulled her into his arms.

"It’s just that... Yuel and the others will probably arrive in another couple of days. Thinking about having to separate from you soon makes me feel a little sad."

"Why would we separate?"

Rory smiled and kissed his cheek.

"Before Yuel and the others arrive, you can just take me and run away again. Your speed is ridiculously fast now anyway. One instant and we’ll already be outside the territories. Yuel and the others won’t be able to find us."

Over the past few days, Rory had gained an entirely new understanding of Vincent’s speed.

After his rebirth, he seemed to have awakened an ability similar to teleportation.

Wherever he wanted to go, he could arrive almost instantly.

If Vincent truly wanted to disappear, nobody would ever be able to find him.

Vincent shook his head slowly.

"I do want to take you away somewhere they can never find you for the rest of your life."

"But I know that would make you unhappy."

And he could not keep doing this anymore.

Being able to steal her away and spend a few days alone together like this was already more than enough for him.

Besides, he had a growing feeling that his illness was getting closer and closer to resurfacing.

These past two days, his head kept aching from time to time, and he constantly felt as though he had forgotten something extremely important.

The unease in his heart was growing stronger and stronger.

Ding.

Rory’s communicator suddenly chimed.

Smiling, Vincent leaned down and kissed her forehead lightly. "It’s probably one of your new friends messaging you. Go reply first. I’ll finish preparing the things we need for tonight."

With that, he turned and headed toward the kitchen.

Rory watched his back quietly.

She knew Vincent had not been telling her the truth just now.

But even if he refused to say it aloud, she could already guess.

Judging from the changes in the feather mark between his brows, he was probably very close to remembering what had happened during his rebirth.

Once the feather mark returned completely to red, he would likely recover all of his memories surrounding the rebirth and fully return to normal.

Rory opened her communicator.

The message was not from one of the new friends she had recently made.

It was from Vangar.

Vangar: [Female Master, Xarion and I have already arrived on Planet Z1689. Can we come over now?]

After thinking for a moment, Rory replied.

Rory: [Thank you for your hard work, you and Xarion. Find somewhere to stay for now and come over in a couple more days.]

At the pace things were progressing, Vincent’s feather mark would probably return completely to red within another two days.

Vangar: [Understood, Female Master. Xarion and I will stay somewhere near your hotel and protect you from the shadows.]

The moment Vangar’s message was sent, Xarion immediately followed with one of his own.

Xarion: [Female Master, has Vincent been behaving normally these past few days? He hasn’t bullied you, has he?]

Rory smiled faintly when she saw Xarion’s message.

Rory: [Don’t worry. Vincent hasn’t bullied me. He’s very normal right now and there are no issues for the moment. The feather mark between his brows just hasn’t fully returned to normal yet. It should recover completely in another couple of days.]

After replying to both Vangar and Xarion, Rory yawned tiredly.

"Vincent, keep packing. I’m sleepy, so I’m going to nap for a while."

These past nights had been far too exhausting, leaving Rory drowsy throughout the day.

Vincent washed his hands clean before walking out of the kitchen to look at her.

"Rory, do you want me to stay with you?"

"No need. Go do your thing."

Rory waved him off casually.

She was only taking a short nap. There was no need for him to accompany her.

Vincent watched her walk into the bedroom. Only after she had fallen asleep did he quietly return to the kitchen to continue preparing the food he planned to bring for her tonight.

This nap lasted all the way until dusk.

When Rory finally woke up, the first thing her hand touched was a man’s firm abdomen.

The faintly cool sensation beneath her fingertips made her blink lazily.

"Vincent... what time is it?"

Over the past few days, Vincent’s body temperature had recovered significantly.

He was no longer as cold as before.

"Six in the evening," Vincent answered softly. "There’s still some time before the bonfire festival starts. You can sleep a little longer if you want."

Rory had already slept the entire afternoon and was no longer particularly tired.

Suddenly, she rolled over and pinned Vincent beneath her.

"Since there’s still some time before the festival, then why don’t you hand in tonight’s report first?"

Vincent could not help laughing helplessly when he heard that.

"Rory, my timing isn’t that short."

Half an hour was nowhere near enough.

At the very least, he needed three hours...

Rory bit lightly at his earlobe.

"But I want it now. What should we do?"

Her words were straightforward and shamelessly bold.

The tiny bit of self control Vincent possessed around her had always been fragile to begin with. Now it shattered completely in an instant.

"Alright..."

His voice came out low and husky, dangerously seductive in the dimly lit room.

Vincent’s breathing turned uneven as burning heat ignited deep within his firebird eyes.

He lifted a hand to the back of Rory’s neck, his fingertips gently stroking her delicate skin.

His voice carried helpless indulgence and quiet surrender.

"Then I’ll try... to be quicker."

It turned out that half an hour really was nowhere near enough.

"Rory, I... I’ll definitely try harder to be faster next time..."

Vincent looked at Rory lying face down on the bed, clearly refusing to acknowledge him. His apology sounded painfully guilty.

"Heh."

Rory let out a weak, exhausted laugh as she glared at his guilty expression.

"I told you to make the timing faster. I didn’t mean like this."

Her entire body felt like it was falling apart.

Vincent lowered his head innocently, his voice carrying a trace of grievance.

"But Rory, I was following exactly what you said..."

Rory: "..."

She was instantly rendered speechless by his innocent yet perfectly justified response.

This man was absolutely doing it on purpose. He knew exactly what she meant and was deliberately pretending otherwise.

"Vincent!"

Grinding her teeth, Rory growled his name like an irritated little beast before pouncing straight at him.

Vincent instinctively reached out to catch her.

"You knew I meant make the time pass faster, not make yourself..."

Before she could finish, Rory bit down viciously on his neck.

He was definitely doing this intentionally.

His rebirth had clearly burned out not only his brain but his heart too, turning it black right along with it.

"Rory, I was wrong."

Vincent surrendered immediately. "I misunderstood what you meant. I promise next time I’ll definitely follow your instructions..."

Halfway through speaking, he felt her teeth grind threateningly against his neck, causing him to hurriedly add, "I mean the timing... I’ll make the timing faster!"

The moment the words left his mouth, even Vincent wanted to cover his own face.

Was there any promise more ridiculous than this?

Who in the world reassured their partner that they would be "faster next time"?

If this ever got out, would he have any dignity left at all?

The last rumor accusing him of being incapable had not even been settled yet. If people started saying he finished too quickly on top of that, how was he supposed to live with himself?

At that point, he probably would not even be able to die in peace.

"Hmph."

Rory snorted weakly, still too exhausted to bother dealing with him.

Vincent glanced at the time displayed on his communicator before quietly selecting the outfit Rory would wear tonight for the bonfire festival.
