Chapter 338: Why Hiro?
Chapter 338: Why Hiro?
"What does it say?" Alex asked in confusion. Even with the test in his hand, he still could not understand it. He kept staring at the two lines, trying to figure out what they meant.
"It is positive," Stales said quietly as he looked at Alex’s face. The shocked look on Angela’s face was enough to confirm it for him. "I knew it."
"Stop talking nonsense, Stales," Angela snapped, placing both hands on her waist as panic rose inside her chest. "This is serious. How did I even get pregnant?"
Alex looked at her in disbelief before letting out a tired sigh. "Angela, you were sleeping with the Alphas without protection. What did you think would happen?"
Her face tightened immediately. "Are you both making fun of me right now?"
"No," Stales answered quickly. "We are just surprised. I thought you would at least be happy about it."
"Well, I am not happy!" Angela’s voice cracked as tears filled her eyes. "I do not want a baby right now. My life is already a complete mess."
The tears she had been holding back finally fell. She slowly lowered herself to the floor, feeling too weak to stand anymore. It felt like everything around her was crashing down at once.
"I do not want this now," she cried softly. "Why is everything happening to me at the same time?"
Alex’s chest tightened painfully at the sight of her crying like that. He hated seeing her broken. He glanced at Stales for a moment before looking back at her, guilt slowly creeping into his heart.
"I am sorry," he said softly.
He walked over to her and gently pulled her into his arms. Angela did not fight him. Instead, she rested against his chest as quiet sobs shook her body. Alex held her carefully, rubbing her back in slow circles as he tried to calm her down.
"I know this is not what you wanted," he whispered. "And I know you are scared right now. But children are blessings from the goddess. Maybe it feels impossible to accept now, but things will not always feel this painful. One day, you might look at this differently."
"How, Alex? I am so tired of everything," Angela cried harder as she wiped at her tears. "How am I supposed to raise this child alone?"
Alex felt his chest ache hearing those words. He hated the pain in her voice, but he forced himself to stay calm for her sake.
"We will figure it out somehow," he whispered softly. "You do not have to carry everything by yourself."
His jaw tightened for a second as he tried to bury the jealousy and pain inside him. She was his mate, yet she was crying over another man’s child. Even so, he could not bring himself to leave her alone in this condition.
"Do not worry about anything," he continued gently. "Stales and I will stay by your side no matter what. Right, Stales?"
"Of course," Stales nodded quickly. "I will do anything to help you, buddy. You are not alone in this."
Angela lowered her head, trying hard to stop crying in front of them. They were doing their best to comfort her, but the guilt inside her only grew stronger.
This was her fault.
Alex was right.
Kaito had warned her last semester. He told her to be careful and use protection, but she ignored him because of the stupid belief that female werewolves hardly got pregnant.
What were you thinking, girl? Mighty Storm’s voice echoed inside her head. There were four powerful Alphas. Of course this was going to happen.
Angela closed her eyes tightly as fresh tears slipped down her cheeks.
"What do you think I should do?" she asked quietly after a long moment.
"You should talk to your mates," Alex answered carefully. "You should not be carrying this alone when the baby has fathers too."
"No way," Angela said immediately as she lifted her head from his chest. Panic flashed across her face so suddenly that both boys stared at her in surprise.
"Angela?" Alex frowned deeply. "Are you okay? What happened?"
"I do not know," she whispered shakily.
She slowly pulled away from him and walked back to the bed before laying down. She turned to the other side, staring blankly at the wall as she tried forcing her mind away from everything happening around her.
The room became painfully quiet.
Alex and Stales exchanged worried looks, both unsure of what to say next. No words seemed strong enough to take away the fear and sadness crushing her heart.
"Do you need anything?" Alex asked softly. He wished there was a way to take her pain away, but he knew he could not fix this for her.
"No. I just want to be alone," Angela replied quietly as she pulled the blanket closer to her chest.
Stales looked surprised by her answer. "Are you sure that is a good idea?" he asked before forcing out a small smile. "Anyways, we will give you the privacy you want, Luna."
"Do not annoy her right now, man," Alex warned him immediately. "Her mood can change at any second and trust me, you will not survive it."
"It is because of the pregnancy, right?" Stales whispered back, though not quietly enough.
"I can hear you, Stales," Angela muttered from the bed.
Even though she still felt miserable, part of her was slowly accepting the truth. Crying would not change anything now. She had to stand on her own and face whatever was coming.
And one thing was certain.
She was not going to tell her mates about the pregnancy.
That would only bring more problems into her already messy life, especially when she did not even know who the father was.
"I know you can hear me," Stales grinned shamelessly. "But seriously, I keep wondering something. If you were not mated to the Alphas, who would you have dated in this academy?"
Alex gave him a disappointed look. "Look at the nonsense you are thinking about right now." He turned back to Angela with a softer expression. "Do not listen to him. He enjoys talking rubbish."
Stales burst into laughter while Alex remained serious. He already knew Stales would keep joking no matter the situation.
But Angela surprised them both.
"Stales is right," she said quietly as she stared at the ceiling. "If I was not their mate, maybe my life would have been better."
The moment those words left her mouth, a sharp pain spread through her chest. No matter how much she tried to deny it, being away from Taros and his brothers still hurt deeply. It felt like a part of her was missing.
"Do not let stupid thoughts fill your head," Alex told her gently.
He stayed leaning against the wall, his eyes fixed on her. Even with tears in her eyes and pain written all over her face, she still looked beautiful to him.
And that only made things harder.
Because deep down, he wished things had been different between them.
"At least I only get into your head, Angela. Someone else is clearly trying to get into your heart," Stales said with a teasing chuckle as he looked directly at Alex.
A cold feeling rushed through Alex immediately. His eyes darkened as he shot Stales a warning look, silently begging him to stop talking before he made things worse.
"Stop being annoying, Stales," Angela said with a small smile.
"I am serious," he replied with a shrug before walking toward the window.
He pushed it open and looked outside. The school compound was slowly filling up with students returning for the semester. Voices echoed across the grounds while groups of students dragged their bags toward the dormitories. The once quiet Central House was finally coming back to life again.
Stales rested his hand against the window frame absentmindedly as his eyes moved across the crowd.
Then suddenly, his expression changed.
His body stiffened.
The smile on his face disappeared instantly as his eyes locked on someone standing outside.
Stales blinked once, wondering if his eyes were playing tricks on him. But when he looked again, the fear inside him grew stronger.
"Hiro is here," he announced quietly, his voice almost too low to hear.
"What did you say?" Alex asked immediately, straightening from the wall.
Stales slowly turned toward them, and for the first time that morning, real fear could be seen on his face.
"Hiro is here," he repeated more clearly. "I think he knows."
Angela’s heart nearly stopped.
"What?" she gasped as she pushed herself up from the bed so quickly that the blanket fell to the floor. Panic spread across her face while her mind raced with terrifying thoughts.
Why was Hiro here all of a sudden?
Did he know about the pregnancy already?
Her chest tightened painfully as another thought entered her mind.
If Hiro knew, then someone must have told him.
Her eyes moved straight to Alex.
Fear, betrayal, and anger mixed together inside her as she stared at him.
If he told Hiro about the baby, she was never going to forgive him for it.
