Chapter 522 - Three Systems
Chapter 522 - Three Systems
Leyan Family underground cave mansion.
A man, a woman, and a large bison stood near the massive spherical Spiritual Vein, its gentle pulsations casting a serene glow across the cavern.
Snort!
"Boss, are you really going to do this training again? Don’t you know my power has grown leaps and bounds since back then? You’ll die from my majestic ram. And didn’t you stop this method because you were afraid of my protagonist potential? I’ve already seen through you, boss!" Mr. Bison declared, ending with a proud snort.
Leyvi rolled his eyes.
Just when he thought this bison could hold a normal conversation, it always circled back to nonsense.
"Who’s afraid of a delusional cow? Don’t get ahead of yourself," Leyvi shot back. "I stopped because the healing elixirs were becoming less effective. But now that’s no longer a problem. Selene is here. Her healing is better than any elixir."
Over the past five years, Selene had become incredibly popular in Bara City. The masses had even given her a title.
The Bara Healing Fairy.
A beautiful blonde fairy who seemed to descend from the heavens, easing pain and soothing suffering wherever she went. It was said that simply watching her bouncing twin curls was enough to relieve stress and calm the mind.
Normally, Leyvi would have laughed such rumors off.
But in this case... they were actually true.
Her twin curls did possess a subtle mind-soothing effect, similar to the bamboo shoots he had once obtained, though not as strong for now. Still, this ability would continue to grow as her healing talent grows.
In time, it might even surpass the bamboo shoots entirely.
At first, Selene began by walking around the city, healing injured mortals wherever she went. As her healing abilities grew stronger, she gradually extended her help to cultivators as well. Over time, her power reached a level where she could even regenerate lost limbs, achieving results comparable to high-quality healing elixirs.
As her reputation spread and her title took root, it became increasingly difficult for her to continue roaming the streets freely. People would gather the moment she appeared, making it nearly impossible to maintain her usual pace.
In the end, she established a clinic.
There, she made it clear that mortals would always be given priority over cultivators.
Unless they were born into cultivator families, most mortals simply could not afford healing elixirs. These items were expensive, and even the cheaper alternatives remained out of reach. As for remedies created by mortals themselves, they could hardly compare to those refined by cultivators.
Because of this, Selene’s presence became nothing short of a blessing for the mortal communities within the city.
She did not refuse to heal cultivators, but she charged them five times the market price of a standard healing elixir. This was a deliberate choice. She had no intention of disrupting the existing market or provoking dissatisfaction among alchemists and other healers. By focusing primarily on those who could not afford treatment in the first place, her influence on the overall system remained minimal.
Despite how it appeared, Selene was not driven purely by benevolence.
While she did possess a kind heart, she was not the type to endlessly give of herself without reason. The true motivation behind her actions over the past five years was simple.
She wanted to improve her healing talent as quickly as possible.
The more she healed, the more her abilities improved. And the stronger her healing became, the more she could support her husband when it truly mattered.
That was her goal.
Snort!
"Damn boss! That’s species discrimination! How can you say something like that? A bison is completely different from a cow! Just look at this physique! We’re far more majestic than any cow could ever be!" Mr. Bison declared, flexing his massive body and his gleaming diamond horns with great pride.
"Yes, yes. Whatever," Leyvi waved it off. "It’s been a while since we trained together. Ever since you awakened your bloodline, I haven’t seen your strength yet. So, is it strong?"
"Heheh." Mr. Bison lifted his head proudly. "Boss, even if you’re no longer the final villain, how can I reveal my bloodline power so easily? A true protagonist always keeps his trump card hidden until the perfect moment."
Leyvi’s mouth twitched.
This guy... was beyond saving.
Ever since he upgraded the spiritual imprint of his spirit beasts into the Golden Spiritual Imprint, Mr. Bison had somehow decided that Leyvi was no longer the "final villain." As for why, Leyvi didn’t even want to know. It was probably another one of his bizarre delusions.
"By the way, boss," Mr. Bison continued, "why do you even need this kind of training? I heard you’re some sort of prodigy in Spiritual Cultivation. Just focus on that. Why torture yourself like this? Are you stupid?"
Leyvi froze.
Being called stupid by this delusional bison somehow hit harder than anything else.
He slowly turned his head.
There, standing beside him, was Selene. Gentle, radiant, and blissfully normal.
Like a patch of sunlight in a world full of nonsense.
Without hesitation, he grabbed her hand and placed it on his head.
"Thank you, Selene," Leyvi said with exaggerated relief. "My brain damage from interacting with this bison has been cured. From now on, I’ll need your healing every time I talk to him."
He paused, then added with a straight face, "Also, can you try healing him? See if you can cure his delusion disease."
Snort!
"What the heck, boss! I’m not ill! I’m the healthiest bison in existence!"
Selene couldn’t help but giggle. Her husband was still the same goofy man she had fallen in love with over a decade ago.
"Husband, jokes aside... are you sure about doing this?" she asked, her tone softening. "I heard you used to train like this before. It’s such a... barbaric way to temper your body. Why not use a proper body cultivation method instead?"
Even though she had devoted herself to improving her healing for his sake, that didn’t mean she liked seeing him get hurt.
Leyvi smiled gently. "Don’t worry, Selene. This is something I want to do. And with you here supporting me, I can endure any hardship."
As he spoke, his thumb brushed lightly against her cheek.
Selene’s face flushed, warmth blooming across her features. For a few seconds, she simply basked in the sweetness of his words.
Then a thought suddenly surfaced.
...Wait.
She looked at him more carefully.
Did my husband just learn how to sweet-talk?
Leyvi, completely unaware of her thoughts, had already shifted his focus inward.
The reason he chose to return to this crude, almost savage method of training was not without purpose.
During his meeting with Senior Raisho, he had been advised to reflect on his breakthrough, to uncover the conditions that led to the formation of his unique core.
And he had done exactly that.
After careful reflection, he identified three crucial factors that made it possible.
The first one was his powerful spiritual pressure.
In the first place, his original core collapsed into a singularity because he compressed it too much with his spiritual pressure. It was the cause of the incident, yet at the same time, it was also what allowed him to stabilize his dantian again, stopping the collapse and forming his current special core.
Secondly, it was his tough body.
During the collapse, everything was pulled inward with tremendous force, as if his entire being was being dragged into the center. Without a strong enough body, he would have crumbled and been completely swallowed by the singularity.
Lastly, it was his willpower.
The pain during that process was overwhelming. Without the determination to endure it, he would have lost consciousness long before everything stabilized, and that would have meant death.
Thinking back on it, Leyvi became more certain.
These three factors were not coincidences. They were the conditions that allowed his core to form.
If he wanted to succeed in his Nascent Soul breakthrough, then he had to strengthen them even further.
To do that, he only needed to continue what he had already been doing. Continue his Spiritual Cultivation to push his spiritual pressure to a higher level, and continue tempering his body through that barbaric training method, which would naturally sharpen his willpower as well.
Thinking about this, he couldn’t help but feel that creeping sensation again, as if something unseen was quietly nudging him down a specific path.
But this time, it was different.
This time, he had a choice.
He could deviate.
From what Senior Raisho said, cultivators could reach the Dao Manifestation Realm through any path. Whether it was Qi Cultivation, Body Cultivation, or Spiritual Cultivation, all roads ultimately led to the same destination.
If that were the case, then avoiding that strange feeling would be simple.
He could just abandon Qi Cultivation and Body Cultivation entirely and focus solely on Spiritual Cultivation, the path where his talent was undeniable. With that alone, reaching the Dao Manifestation Realm was still possible.
A clean, safe route.
Yet... for some reason, that thought didn’t sit well with him.
In fact, the more he considered it, the more a quiet resistance grew within his chest.
If he gave up on Qi and Body Cultivation like this... he felt that he would regret it. Deeply.
Why? Because a thought had already taken root in his mind.
What if...
What if he reached the Dao Manifestation Realm through all three cultivation systems at once?
